The Secret Of Life Is In Your Breath

Beauty and Wellness – By Cory Quirino

Broccoli is one of the most nutritious vegetables you should include in your diet.  Studies have shown that this curly-topped veggie, just like cauliflower, is rich in antioxidants, fiber, and flavonoids believed to fight off cancer.

Oriental Broccoli Salad

One head broccoli, washed, stalks removed and chopped
Two square of tofu (tokwa), chopped
One sprig of parsley, chopped
Half a cup of chicken / vegetable stock
Half a cup of cooked macaroni
One teaspoon lemon juice
Sesame seeds, toasted
One teaspoon sesame oil

Heat sesame oil in a pa.   Lightly pan-fry the broccoli and tofu for two minutes in medium heat.  (You may steam the broccoli first for 30 seconds before frying it.)  Throw in the macaroni.  Add salt and pepper.  Before serving, mix with lemon and sprinkle with sesame seeds and parsley.

Beer drinkers should have a reason to celebrate.  While beer in excess may not be good for you, studies have shown that beer, especially the darker brews, are rich in antioxidants.  Beer prevents the oxidation of low-density lipoprotein (LDL) or bad cholesterol and very low-density lipoprotein (VLDL) or very bad cholesterol.

A Beauty Bag is a hand carry-all cosmetics bag which is a mini-version of your cosmetics drawer at home.  You should take this with you to work or leave one in the car.  This way, you are always prepared for anything.  Some basics: small hand soap, hand sanitizer, hand moisturizer, foundation, lipstick, eyeshadow, eyebrow pencil, mascara, face powder, nail file, nail polish, blemish stick (preferably made from tea tree oil), face spritzer, perfume or cologne, hairbrush/comb, pantyliners, feminine wash, facial tissue, toothbrush, toothpaste, mouthwash.

Breathe! The secret of life is in your breath.  The simplest way to attain well-being is through proper breathing.  Deep breathing taps the energy or prana of the universe.  It can release stress, anger and tension.  It also oxygenates the skin.
